if someone advertises something as “new” on ebay?

what does it mean? is there a diffrence between “new” and “brand new” i recived an item that was advertised as new and i recived it and it was slightly opened and bent at the corners. and the plastic was bent. am i justified in sending the item back and asking for a refund?

It depends on the damage and your item. Even if it is new, damage to the package should typically be reported in the ad, particularly like Matchbox cars or Barbies that many people leave in the box.
It can be common…if the item is fine I wouldn’t worry. A lot of stuff on Ebay is liquidated after sitting in a store unsold for potentially years, hence the often very good prices.
