In modern day times, the amount of people tapping into the internet to learn how to make money online is growing. The number one place where people look to first is Ebay, but to generate true profits there are some proven simple strategies to follow.

Selling your stuff on Ebay is simple, and chances are that you have plenty of stuff to sell. Old books, records, cd’s, electrical equipment and clothes to name just a few. Don’t be fooled in thinking that it’s junk, after all, one person’s junk is another’s treasure so there will always be a buyer. Now, there are some simple strategies to doing this well and therefore maximising your profits:

1. Write a good, honest description about the state of the item. If people now exactly what they’re getting then they will leave a better feedback score and be more interested in the product from the off.

2. Make sure your postage costs are accurate. There’s nothing people hate more than being ripped off through the postage charges. And more often than not, if they feel they have been, they will be sure to let you know through the feedback score and comments they leave.

3. Don’t use reserves, Ebay’s own statistics analyses has proved that this puts buyers off as they aren’t guaranteed their maximum bid will secure the goods. There is a time and place, however, on big tickets items.

4. Buyers are attracted to sellers who have return policies, and often will pay more for an item just because the seller has a return policy. A 14 day no questions asked policy is a good idea and providing you’ve been spot on with you’re descriptions and photos, you shouldn’t have too many problems.

5. Ending your items at 9pm on a Saturday night won’t create that last minute bidding war that you’re aiming for as the chances are that most people will be out, or just enjoying the weekend. It has been proven by ebay that Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings are the best times to end item listings.

6. If your selling what you believe to be “Junk” then start the bids at 0.99 pence/cent. After all, if you were just going to throw it out then frankly anything you can get for it is a bonus. Plus the listing will be free.

Ebay can indeed be very fruitful in terms of making extra money online. However, to cut down on the time you will have to invest on listing, packing and posting you will need to come up with a stringent schedule. Then, at a later date assess whether the money your seeing coming in is a healthy return on that time you’ve spent.
